Why this exists?
Basically, I was searching the internet for something and getting absolutely nowhere. Page after page of ads, sponsored links and whatever else someone had paid to put in front of me — and absolutely feck all that was actually useful. And I thought to myself: "This is a pain in the bollocks." And that was pretty much the inspiration for askmebollocks.com. A search engine that tries to find you the stuff you're actually looking for, rather than filling the page with sponsored shite.
How does it work?
You type what you're looking for into our search bar. Simple enough. Behind the scenes, askmebollocks.com uses open-source search software running on our own server to fetch and filter the results — helping cut through the ads, sponsored links and other sponsored crap that gets in the way of finding what you're actually looking for. It might take a few seconds longer than the usual search engines. That's the trade-off. We'd rather take an extra second or two and give you useful results than have you spend five minutes scrolling past sponsored shite trying to find them. And the best bit? It's completely free. No subscriptions. No paywall. No sponsored results. Although if you like what we're doing and fancy buying us a pint, we definitely won't say no.
No cookies. No tracking. No messing. Ask My Bollocks runs on open-source software, filtering out the shite to serve you actual results and keeping the whole thing online for the price of a few pints a month.
